Biomechanical Soft-Tissue Therapy

The Honsberger Touch to Massage Therapy

Massage and related bodywork techniques can release painful muscle tension, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility and reduce mental and physical fatigue.  In addition, massage is among the most effective means available to  combat stress.  However, the therapeutic effects of massage can only be sustained by introducing a proper and specific exercise program.  The goal at Honsberger Physiotherapy is to achieve positive and sustainable change, and we achieve this through our treatment philosophy.  Research  continues to show the importance of exercise in therapeutic intervention.  Our Registered Massage/Biomechanical Therapists will help to treat any problems which you may be experiencing, and also guide you towards managing your body so that the problem does not occur again.

The new treatment is a systematic approach. While the base and philosophical basis will remain to provide biomechanical balance of the body (including the feet, spine, and pelvis), the new treatment will include a structured technical approach. We have found that the FASCIAL system of the body has the power to be a cause of poor posture and therefore poor Biomechanical Function.

The fascial system is found throughout the entire body. Within the New Biomechanical Therapy Treatment we will typically be working with the fascia surrounding the muscles but not limiting our treatment to that one system. When a muscle has been released from its compensating (shortened) pattern, its not used to the New position. We have to teach or re-pattern the muscle to be used effectively at its New length and New position.

We call this the “Muscle Activation” portion of the New Treatment. With the New Muscle Activation portion of the treatment you will achieve SUSTAINABLE CHANGE in the quickest time possible.  In the current scientific literature, exercise has been found to be very effective in providing a sustainable change to all types of manual therapy, including massage.

A Home Exercise Program will also be demonstrated so that you feel comfortable with our expectation/your ability ratio and that you understand that this too is an important part of your recovery and biomechanical improvement.
