Honsberger Physiotherapy is pleased to offer full off-season conditioning programs in Hockey.

Sport Sciences International, a division of Honsberger Physiotherapy, offers a variety of sport-specific assessments and conditioning programs for hockey players of all ages.

Off-season conditioning programs run between May and September, annually. 20 week, 10 week, and 5 week programs, as well as custom programs are available.

Prior to the commencement of all conditioning programs each player will undergo an extensive physical evaluation, including structural and biomechanical assessments and sport specific fitness testing. The structural assessment will evaluate each player for any temporary or permanent structural abnormalities that may lead to injury. Many short and long-term injuries can be eliminated by early detection. The biomechanical exam is the best method for determining functional problems that will affect performance. Both of these evaluations will allow more appropriate training for each individual player.

Sport-specific fitness testing provides valuable information about any physical weaknesses and can then be incorporated into all fitness and conditioning programs. Each program is custom designed according to the player’s age, growth and development and physical readiness  for each conditioning component. Fitness testing will include tests for body composition, power, speed, agility, quickness, muscular endurance, strength (core, upper and lower body), aerobic and anaerobic capacity.

Sport specific training will enhance athletic performance and speed the athlete’s development. All training is overseen by our certified athletic trainers and kinesiologists.

We welcome your participation in the Summer Dryland Program.
