NICK ASHMAN, MScPhysiotherapy, CSCS, BSc (Hons) Applied Sports Science
Occupation: Physiotherapy Resident
In May 2019 I moved from the UK to settle here in Canada. I have always been active and played soccer and rugby competitively growing up. Having retired last season due to injury I will be coaching at local club Markham Irish RFC next season. I am an avid gym addict and have been strength training in the gym for many years now. I recently entered the Crossfit world and have made a goal to train for a triathlon next year.
I graduated from Leeds Beckett University in 2015 with a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy. Previous to this, I graduated from The University of Edinburgh with an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Sports Science After completing my junior rotations in the NHS at Leeds Hospital I specialized in MSK whilst also working for a local rugby club providing pitch side first aid and a weekly sports injury clinics.
Since graduating, Nick has continued to focus on strength and conditioning and recently qualified as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He is currently working towards becoming a certified STOTT Pilates Instructor and has developed his knowledge of human movement analysis and neuromuscular facilitation through training in the Bobath Concept.
Nick's treatment philosophy is a natural extension of his special interests. He looks to work closely with his clients to empower them to take care of their own bodies. Working together, he likes to focus on education and the prevention of injuries in addition to rehabilitation through functional strengthening and exercise therapy.
